Update end of february 2018

We were quite busy this week with the preparations for the new season. For example, Martine has received new (tropical) plants for the garden by post including salvias, calendulas, rudbeckias and fuchias. Hemko has made a new website for friends with a campsite nearby. In return, various technical jobs were done overhere. Amongst others a new heating has been installed, a wall outlet has been repaired and a charging point for our guests’ electric bicycles has been installed. Furthermore, we also started our big spring cleaning; the first bookcases have been cleaned. There is also very diverse bird news. Our chicken is no longer alone, but has 2 new friends since a week. Like every spring, the Ibises reappear; this picture was taken at 200 meters from our house. Everyone good luck with the cold; we are enjoying the sun in the Vendée

Update mid february 2018

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Sardinia. The picture is from our holiday home with sea view. We came home to all kinds of surprises. We flew from Paris and ended up in a lot of snow. In our Vendée with a mild sea climate of course no snow, but a flowering mimosa in the garden. Furthermore in the mail a nice award from booking.com. Our thanks to everyone who appreciated us so well with a good review.

Update January 2018

The first few days of January are always pleasantly busy at Au Passage du Gois with our French guests. This time they had quite a spectacle with the fallen over windmill (62m), 4 kilometers away from us. The last few weeks we were busy DIY-ing; tiling, hedge cutting, picking out new recipes for the table d’hote and we also tested several new walks. At the moment we only have 1 chicken, she is therefore somewhat lonely and now sleeps on our windowsill at night. No worries; in a few weeks a few new girlfriends will be arriving.

Our favorite walk on the island of Noirmoutier

Our favorite walk on the island of Noirmoutier

Over here autumn has begun as well; today was no warmer than 15C, but still some nice sunshine. A good opportunity to do our favorite walk on the island of Noirmoutier. Which is a good place to make beautiful pictures. Here’s a small selection. For the vegetable garden lovers; the first potatoes on Noirmoutier are coming out of the ground already. It’s a big tide this week, so many French go to the sea to find some food; we simply watched from the beach.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS 2017 IN FRANCE

School holidays 2017 in France

Last week during the school holidays in the Netherlands our family visited us. The age ranged from just 2 to almost 80. It was gorgeous weather, so we did a lot of fun things. The theme of the week was elephant. We have been twice with the little ones to an indoor playground in Challans (20 km). Also a day to Planet Sauvage (30 km); a beautiful and spacious animal park with a.o. elephants. A day to the coast at Noirmoutier island; we enjoyed playing on the beach, we fished and we climbed some rocks. Grandpa Hans wanted to go to Nantes for a day and everyone thought that was a good idea. Of course, we saw the elephant, we sat in the big carousal and visited the castle. Nantes never disappoints for a visit. On Friday we had some excitement  on the Passage du Gois, a car got stuck in the morning.
