THIS WEEK (1st WEEK OF JULI 2017) AT AU PASSAGE DU GOIS

This week at Au Passage du Gois

We have had a very nice and enjoyable week. Summer is in full swing here. Our garden is in bloom and attracts a large variety of butterflies. Among other things the Old World swallowtail and the Hummingbird hawk-moth. Also good news on the technical front; since a few weeks our internet is 5x as fast, so everyone can watch youtube, facetime, skype and netflix without any problems. This week we picked glasswort and sea lavender behind the dike (at 600 meters). All summer every Monday and Thursday we enjoy our table d’hote evenings. We start outside with an aperitif (yesterday a Soupe Angevine) and then dinner in our summer kitchen. As for the Passage du Gois; usually things go okay, but it’s been hectic in recent weeks. See also the photo taken last Sunday’s photo. Pay special attention to the buoy they have attached to the car. Everyone have a nice week and see you soon.

BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY IN THE VENDÉE

BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY IN THE VENDÉE

We have found a moment today to enjoy our lovely region. We started at a flea market (looking for authentic beer glasses), next to the annual kite festival in Notre Dame de Monts and then to the island of Noirmoutier, to check out a newly opened bar / restaurant in one of the smaller harbors of Noirmoutier. (He has been approved). A crossing over the Passage du Gois as well of course. Did you also have a nice Sunday?

Our holiday cottage La Bergerie is ready for the summer

Our holiday cottage La Bergerie is all set for our summer guests of this year! All the bedding and curtains have been washed, we cleaned from top to bottom, we tiled inside and painted outside. Our wooden kitchen tops have been oiled etc. We have been clipping around with our pruning shears as well. There are also some new plants in the garden. We are still busy cleaning and oiling the garden furniture. We are considering to place a Nespresso machine and a Wii in all our cottages. We have seen a couple of times that guests took them with them from home. What do you think of these ideas or do you have any other suggestions??

Our swimming pool is being used

Today 23 April 2017 it is 19C and 13 hours sun, so our swimming pool is being used. A few weeks ago it looked very different with the winter cover on. This spring we have, as always, emptied and cleaned our pool, we did some repairs and filled our pool again. Now we feel that our summer season has begun! How about you?
